Gold chains become damaged for a number of reasons:
- Poor quality alloy, due to which the product stretches under its own weight.
- Temporary wear: the links fray and the decoration breaks. Most often, the links near the lock or in the middle where the heavy pendant hangs are affected.
- Mechanical damage due to twisting, breaking.
- Thinning of the legs that support the stones, causing them to fall out.

And some chains are damaged more often than others. For example, a product made from a hollow tube will break much faster than a similar decoration made from solid wire, even if they look the same in appearance. The type of weaving is also important: a decoration made according to the “anchor”, “spikelet”, “figaro”, “rope” pattern will be strong and durable. Traditional herringbone and omega styles tend to curl, causing wear, and the snake pattern tends to snag on clothing.

If by snake you mean snake weaving, then: It seemed to me that automatic knitting snake is not repairable at all. Although, golden hands can do anything. It seems to me that the chain cannot stretch itself.
