5 million in 5 minutes. How a jewelry store was robbed at Parnassus

For an act to be considered theft, it must satisfy the following criteria:

  • it must be theft;
  • such theft of gold must be secret;
  • when committing the act, violence or the threat of its use was not used (for example, threats to security guards);
  • there was no authority to dispose of the item of theft.

If the theft is carried out openly, then this entails much more serious consequences - urgently consult with a lawyer. Theft can be recognized as both a crime and a misdemeanor.

Having decided what Gold Theft is, you should find out for yourself what the amount of the theft was, more or less than 2,000 rubles.

Qualification of theft

Regardless of the characteristics and cost of the jewelry, immediately after identifying the fact of theft, you must file a police report. If your items were stolen using force or threat, the case will be considered for other forms of theft (burglary or burglary). The statement must indicate the manner in which the jewelry was stolen:

  • from a residential premises - indicate traces of penetration into an apartment or house; the nature of damage to doors, windows or locking devices; a list of stolen items and jewelry;
  • from work offices, premises or storage facilities - in this case the illegal nature of the criminal’s entry must be confirmed (if the culprit was granted access to these premises legally, liability may also arise under other provisions of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation);
  • from vehicles - this method of theft is not an independent qualifying criterion under Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation;
  • from personal belongings or items that were directly with the victim.

If gold cost less than 2,000 rubles

If the gold cost less than 2,000 rubles, then such an act may be recognized not as theft, but as petty theft, and then it falls under the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, which does not entail a criminal record.

In this case, the decisive factor is whether related actions were committed that entail criminal liability regardless of the value of the gold. For a list of such actions, see this link.

Choices during heists

The choice of approach and team occurs when planning a robbery

In the game you have to complete six major robberies that involve a significant amount of money. When preparing for each mission, you can choose one of two execution methods. You should choose the one that best suits your preferences. You will be informed about what you need to do and make a choice based on that knowledge, so if you don't like to fly, choose a non-helicopter plan. Depending on your choice, you must also take care of the proper equipment to make the mission possible - this mainly applies to stealing a car.

Another important factor is the choice of team. There are three main categories of companions: driver, hacker and gunslinger, but not every heist requires all of them. Each of them will want their share of the loot. The better his skills, the greater the requirements will be, but the mission will be easier. A "cheap" team will make the mission more difficult, but it is better from a financial point of view because you will save most of the money. Moreover, companions constantly improve their skills during activities and keep their financial requirements low. This means that choosing Hacker Rick in the jewelry heist will give you a little time to empty the display cases during the heist - but on the next mission, his skills will be similar to those of the best hacker, while maintaining his financial demands.

Jewelry robbery

You'll have to choose between the smart and noisy options. The mission doesn't change because of this choice, but you'll probably do better with the smart option, since you'll be able to spend all the time the hacker gives you emptying storefronts instead of dealing with the people in there. For this mission you need a team of three people:

Driver – With the best driver, you will receive instructions on where to go and the best motorcycles. But you should also get the job done by hiring the cheapest performer (Denz). You won't get any voice information (just stay close, you won't get lost - you can always look at the mini-map) and you'll have to ride some really bad bikes. There will also be a stop in the sewer, since you won't know where to go. However, you can easily handle it and save a lot of money.

Gunslinger - If you choose the cheapest one (Norm Richards), he will crash into the sewers and lose his bag of money. You just need to “drive through it” to pick it up without losing your money. This way it's not too complicated either and you'll save a lot of money. But you won't be able to use this guy later.

Hacker - Your choice of Hacker determines how much time you have to empty store displays. The hacker's most expensive choice is given a full 90 seconds, which is more than enough to get every precious item from there. The best choice is the middle one (Feltz), but if you hurry, you can even steal everything with the worst hacker Ricky.

Merryweather Robbery

This robbery, as it turns out after it's done, won't give you any money. Plus, you don't need to assemble a team. You need to attack a cargo ship from the sea or using a helicopter. The choice doesn't matter in this case. In the first option you will have to deal with guarding the ship, in the second there is a lot of flying and shooting at pursuing helicopters, which is not suitable for everyone.

Blitz game

As with Merryweather, this heist is also uncrewed. You also can't choose your approach.

Robbery in Paleto

Paleto bank robbery, again, no choice of approach. But you can choose one of the shooters. Choosing the cheapest option involves the death of the companion (remember that you must pay even if he dies). The others (Packy, Chief, Montoya) will not be harmed. In this mission, it's better to invest in the best team member, because at some point you will split up and he will try to slow down the NOOSE attackers alone.

Raid on the Bureau

This robbery can be carried out in two ways. You can enter the building, plant bombs and drive there as a fire brigade. Another way is to attack directly from the air, landing on the roof with parachutes. The first option seems simpler: you basically walk, run and gun, but you have to hurry due to the limited amount of oxygen. And because of the smaller team, you will earn more. The choice of team depends on the robbery method you choose:

1. Fire brigade

Arrows . It doesn't matter who you choose, the one with worse stats will die from the explosion. You can choose the two cheapest ones without any problems. The only shooting in this mission occurs when Franklin is alone, so their skills don't matter. You can choose more expensive shooters if you want to save the two cheapest ones for the last heist to maximize profits.

2. Roof

Driver . The choice of driver will not affect the mission in any way, only slightly increase the time (you will have to get rid of the police). If you've already unlocked Taliana Martinez from the random event, she's the perfect choice. Otherwise, select Denza again.

Shooter . A better shooter should make this mission easier, but again, the difference isn't big enough to lose that much of your loot. Feel free to choose the cheapest option.

Hacker . A good hacker will guide you through the mini-games during this mission and turn on the sprinklers for better visibility. But again, this won't have much impact. The ideal choice is Ricky, especially if you picked it up at a jewelry store.

Huge jackpot

The last big heist can be played out in two ways - "Trivial approach" and "Silently". The first option is much more difficult, but can give you a much better financial result than the second.

1. "Trivial approach"

Helicopter driver and pilot . The choice doesn't matter, so take the cheapest ones. The ideal option is Martinez and Denz, if you had them in previous robberies. In total they will want 13% of the loot for their skills.

Arrows . The mission requires the use of a lot of ammunition, so you must choose the best team (Packy, Chief). The difficulty level will not be crazy high, so if you are confident in your abilities, then complete this mission also with the cheapest ones. Your choice.

2. "Quietly"

Drivers . Their job is to drive trucks through the tunnel. If you have the cheapest drivers, without any skills trained in the previous mission, the trucks will drive less smoothly. This does not reveal the value, so take the cheapest without hesitation: Martinez and Denz.

Arrows . It pays to have experienced companions. If you choose newbies, you will lose some money because they will not upload them on time.

Hacker . Its purpose is to facilitate a mini-game in which you control lights to stop enemy vehicles. A weaker hacker causes the lamps to respond with a slight delay, but the difference is not too great. The ideal choice is Ricky, who has already worked in one of the robberies.

Leonardo Notarbartolo and the theft of a century

The Belgian Antwerp has always been a tasty morsel for thieves of different levels and scales, since 80% of the world's turnover of rough diamonds passes through it, but what happened here in 2003 can easily be called the theft of the century.

The crime was prepared over three years and was carefully planned. The leader and main organizer was the professional thief Leonardo Notarbartolo. He got used to the role of a diamond dealer and rented an office in the building where the largest jewelry storage facility was located. Thanks to his natural charm and charisma, he successfully gained the trust of major players in this market, concluded fairly profitable deals, and did not arouse any suspicion. Meanwhile, three of his accomplices dug an underground tunnel leading to the safes.

On one cold February day, a group of four robbers led by Notarbartolo entered the vault through an underground passage. Having overcome numerous security alarms, thermal and seismic sensors, the criminals opened a complex lock with more than 100 million possible combinations, and cleaned out 123 of the 189 available safes. As a result, an incredible amount of diamonds and jewelry worth about $100 million were stolen. How they managed to do all this, bypassing the multi-level security system, still remains a mystery. The jewelry was not found, and Leonardo Notarbartolo himself was sentenced to 10 years in prison, claiming that the value of the stolen goods was actually $20 million.

It is worth mentioning the fact that in 2009 Leonardo was released early from prison, but found himself behind bars again 2 years later due to violation of the conditions of release: Notarbartolo did not pay compensation to the owners of the stolen jewelry.

Disappearance of diamonds at Amsterdam airport

In 2005, diamonds worth several million dollars did not reach Antwerp. They were stolen at Amsterdam airport directly from an airline bus that was taking them to the plane for loading and transfer to Antwerp. The negligence of airport employees made the robbers' task significantly easier, since it turned out that at the time of the theft the valuable cargo was not guarded, and the bus was not even locked. These facts led the police to suspect the airline and its employees of a criminal conspiracy, but no evidence was ever found.

The attackers were soon detained. It turned out that the robbery had been in preparation for more than one year, the thieves carefully studied the security and video surveillance systems, they made copies of the necessary keys, and seized surveillance camera recordings. Currently, the thieves are serving time in prison, and the whereabouts of the precious stones are still unknown.

Harry Winston and The Pink Panther

The famous jewelry house Harry Winston was twice subjected to major robberies. The first occurred in October 2007 in the center of Paris. According to various sources, four or three robbers stole precious stones, watches and other jewelry worth a total of 10 million euros. There were no casualties during the robbery, and the police and witnesses noted the coherence and professionalism in the actions of the criminals.

Apparently, the security service of the jewelry retail chain relied on the saying about lightning, which does not strike twice in the same place, and did not take into account the sad experience. Therefore, a year later, a new daring robbery was committed at another Harry Winston salon. This time, in addition to criminal professionalism, the robbers decided to distinguish themselves by their sense of humor: three of the four men dressed in women's clothing and, without firing a single shot, stole jewelry worth 80 million euros.

The police suspected several store employees of collusion, since according to eyewitness testimony, the robbers not only knew the location of the storage facilities well, but also called the sellers by name. After the incident, Harry Winston's shares immediately fell by 9%. Already in the summer, 25 people, men and women from 22 to 67 years old, were arrested across Europe in connection with this case. According to the police, they are all members of the Pink Panther criminal cartel.

The perfect theft

In 2009, on February 15, thieves used rope ladders through the roof to enter Germany's largest department store, Kaufhaus Des Westens (KaDeWe), located in Berlin. Security systems were not prepared for such a development of events and turned out to be useless in this situation. $5 million worth of items were stolen from jewelry display cases; the thieves disappeared as unnoticed as they had appeared.

The only clue in this case was a glove accidentally left at the crime scene, which led the police to two twin brothers. DNA analysis did not establish which of the brothers the glove belonged to, no other evidence was found, and the thieves, naturally, did not confess to anything. The German police, religiously observing the presumption of innocence, had no choice but to release the acrobat brothers.

Unique diamonds in Cannes

The first theft happened in the spring: jewelry worth 1.5 million euros was taken from the hotel. The second occurred literally a few days after the first and under almost similar circumstances, but a necklace whose price was 2 million euros had already been stolen. The culmination was a fantastically daring robbery at the Carlton Intercontinental Hotel in the midst of the Extraordinary Diamonds exhibition taking place in those days, where jeweler Lev Leviev exhibited his jewelry.

According to eyewitnesses, the events unfolded very quickly: the robber was alone and covered his face with a scarf and baseball cap. In just a few minutes, in front of the amazed public and security, the criminal collected jewelry, watches and precious stones worth a total of 100 million euros, and left the building without hindrance. It is believed that the crime was made possible because the organizers of the exhibition did not turn to local authorities for help in ensuring security, deciding to do it on their own.

According to some reports, the crime, which can now be considered the new “robbery of the century,” was committed by a member of the previously mentioned Pink Panther group, Milan Poparić, who escaped from prison shortly before the theft occurred.
