JUNWEX Moscow is the largest, most prestigious and significant exhibition of jewelry and watch brands in Russia. After the forced closure of exhibition projects and stores specializing in the sale of jewelry for quarantine, this is the first exhibition of the jewelry industry, which will determine the direction of development of leading jewelry companies throughout Russia, from the Far East to Kaliningrad, and consumer demand for the coming year. According to the all-Russian rating of exhibitions, “JUNWEX Moscow” is recognized as the best exhibition in Russia on the topic “Jewelry and Watch Industry” in all nominations.
Therefore, every autumn tens of thousands of visitors from all over Russia come to VDNKh. These are representatives of the professional community (for example, in September 2022, about 7 thousand business contacts were recorded) and visitors who follow trends in jewelry and watch fashion, who want to be the first not only to see new items, but also to buy, making a fashionable purchase and at the same time making an investment (last year about 25 thousand people visited the exhibition).
This increase in the profitability of jewelry purchases is, without a doubt, an excellent investment vehicle to invest in. In September, visitors to the JUNWEX Moscow exhibition should take a closer look at companies that confidently hold the lead in the production of gold products, such as jewelry (St. Petersburg), Krastsvetmet (Krasnoyarsk), Delta (Kostroma), EFREMOV, Belgorod jewelry , Alkor (Kostroma), Alfa-Karat (St. Petersburg), Krasnoselsky Jewelry Industry, Talant (St. Petersburg). In the Premium hall, new collections and original works will be presented by the following companies: Chamovskikh JH (Ekaterinburg), Master Brilliant (Kostroma), Diamonds of Kostroma, Ringo (Moscow), Sarkissian (Moscow) and Maxim Demidov (Moscow), which are deservedly considered the core jewelry market and enjoy great customer confidence.
The XVIII international exhibition of jewelry and watch brands “JUNWEX Moscow” can rightfully be called the most anticipated event of the Moscow business autumn of 2022.

The Historical Museum will open the year of its 150th anniversary with a jewelry exhibition
The idea for this exhibition was proposed to the Historical Museum by Gokhran of Russia, an institution involved in the formation of the State Fund of Precious Metals and Precious Stones of the Russian Federation. Director of the State Historical Museum Alexey Levykin says that the offer was accepted without hesitation.
“We regard this as a real gift.” The exhibition will begin on February 16, the month when the State Historical Museum turns 150, and will open our anniversary year. In addition, this is not our first work with Gokhran - in 2022, we worked together on the project “National Treasures of Russia”, the interest in which we still remember - it was enormous,” Levykin noted.
The director of the Historical Museum recalled that the State Historical Museum’s jewelry collection is one of the best in the world: “These are not only masterpieces dating back to the 16th-17th centuries, but also archaeological materials. A historical museum is able to show the development of jewelry art over the course of not centuries, but millennia.”
The Gokhran of Russia also has an impressive collection. According to its director Andrei Yurin, these masterpieces also deserve the attention of the general public. One of the central places of the exhibition will be occupied by the works of the winners of the state jewelry art competition “Russia. XXI century”, which is regularly held by the Gokhran of Russia with the support of the Ministry of Culture. The best competition works will introduce guests to a variety of techniques and technologies and original creative ideas.
— Brands are brands, behind them we do not see those who bring them fame and glory. It is very important for us that the products that we will present are original works, that is, the idea and implementation of a specific master,” notes Andrey Yurin.
Guests will see not only delicate and elegant jewelry, but also the work of stone cutters, cutters, and gunsmiths.
Among the historical exhibits, museum workers pay attention to the dazzling ladle of the late 19th - early 20th centuries: this was an order from Nicholas II from the workshop of Ivan Morozov as a gift to the French delegation that arrived in the Russian Empire in 1901. Works from other famous workshops will also be presented - Sazikov, Khlebnikov, Ovchinnikov, and, of course, Faberge.
Contemporary authors will include works by Ilgiz Fazulzyanov, Alexey Dontsov, Eduard Nikitin, Yuri Fedorov, Dmitry Samorukov, watches by Konstantin Chaykin, weapons by Gennady Sokolov and Vasily Vorobyov and others.
In addition to the exhibition itself, guests will also be able to meet with jewelers - every Saturday and Sunday, while the exhibition is open, conversations with the authors of the presented works and lectures by art historians are planned.
The exhibition will open on February 16 and will last until April 16. A QR code is required to enter.

Large-scale cultural project of Van Cleef & Arpels in Moscow: jewelry and ballet behind the scenes
En Coulisses is more than an exhibition: it is a huge free (that is, publicly accessible) cultural and educational project, including an exhibition of 49 iconic Van Cleef & Arpels museum jewelry, master classes from brand jewelers specially visiting from France (and each of them is provided with an interpreter) , lectures from experts from the Van Cleef & Arpels School of High Jewelry, an exhibition of ballet photographs by Mikhail Logvinov and ballet costumes of the Bolshoi Theater (with which Van Cleef & Arpels collaborates), as well as a video screening of the ballet-opera “Zephyr and Flora, or Metamorphoses”, staged by The project was launched on the stage of the Pashkov House on October 7.

The ballet “Zephyr and Flora,” first staged in France by the legendary Didelot (we remember his name from Pushkin’s “Eugene Onegin”), received a new incarnation at the initiative of Van Cleef & Arpels. Why on stage at the Pashkov House? It was there that the play was first shown in Moscow in 1817: after the fire of 1812, the Bolshoi Theater troupe was temporarily housed in this legendary mansion. The current production was carried out with the participation of leading Bolshoi artists - Daria Khokhlova, Artem Ovcharenko, Igor Tsvirko and opera soloists Aida Garifullina and Yaroslav Abaimov. Each day throughout the week, this filmed ballet-opera will be broadcast in the exhibition space at 4 p.m.
The origins of the union of the house of Van Cleef & Arpels with the world of dance must be sought in the love of the company's heir, Claude Arpels, for ballet: since the 1920s, he often visited the Opera Garnier, located not far from the brand's boutique on Place Vendôme. The first Van Cleef & Arpels brooches with figurines of ballerinas appeared in the early 1940s, and later they were destined to become one of the most recognizable jewelry of the house.

The sketches of the first dancer brooches were inspired by portraits and photographs of famous ballerinas - jewelry designers tried to convey the pose of a ballet step, the swing of thin arms, and the bend of the neck.

The dancers' faces were made of gold or rose-cut diamonds and were complemented with "hair decorations." The ballerinas themselves were depicted in an openwork tutu of diamonds or colored precious stones - jewelers created the illusion that their outfits were flying up after the movement of the dance.

Van Cleef & Arpels' connection with the world of ballet deepened in the 1950s, when Claude Arpels met the famous choreographer George Balanchine, co-founder of the New York City Ballet. They were both obsessed with the beauty of gemstones and dance, and this passion formed the basis of their creative union. The result was Balanchine's ballet Jewels, first presented in New York in April 1967.

Each of the three parts of this performance tells the story of one precious stone and symbolizes one of the countries associated with the creative path of the choreographer: “Emeralds” to the music of Fauré reflect the sophistication of France, also inherent in the French ballet school, “Rubies” to the music of Stravinsky pay tribute to the sharp syncopation rhythms of America and jazz, and “Diamonds” to the music of Tchaikovsky acts as a nostalgic memory of Russia and the impeccable purity of the school of the Imperial St. Petersburg ballet.

For decades, Balanchine’s ballet “Jewels” has been staged many times on the stages of world-famous theaters. In 2012, Van Cleef & Arpels partnered with the new scenography of Jewels at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. The artistic design of the ballet was based on three colors: green for “Emeralds,” red for “Rubies,” and white for “Diamonds.” Costume designer Elena Zaitseva and set designer Alena Pikalova went to the archive storage of the house in Paris, where they studied the famous brooches and sketches for them, which became the starting point in working on the images of the performance.
The history of Van Cleef & Arpels and the art of ballet has long gone beyond the creation of jewelry in the form of dancers. For many years now, the house has been taking part in staging ballet performances on major world stages and supporting talents on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater. In 2017, on the historical stage of the Bolshoi, with the support of Van Cleef & Arpels, the premiere of the ballet “Nureyev” took place, dedicated to the life and work of the brilliant dancer from Russia. The plot of the ballet and its libretto were developed by director Kirill Serebrennikov. And in 2019, Van Cleef & Arpels became an official sponsor of the Bolshoi Theater.

But let's return to Petrovsky Passage. The Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry display includes 49 unique jewelry creations, including 16 iconic ballerina brooches created between the 1940s and 1990s, as well as minaudières (miniature ladies' toiletries popular in the 1930s) depicting ballet scenes. Other jewelry masterpieces include fancy brooches in the form of flowers and leaves, the famous Zip necklace, which took more than 10 years to complete by order of the Duchess of Windsor. And for the first time in Moscow, the Grace Kelia diamond tiara is being shown - the Princess of Monaco wore it to her daughter’s wedding in 1978.

In one of the exhibition halls, talented craftsmen (or Mains d'Or, “golden hands” - jewelers, stone setters, polishers) from the Van Cleef & Arpels studio on Place Vendôme show how jewelry creations are born, requiring many hours of painstaking work.
Experts from their own jewelry school give lectures at home. “Secrets of Sentimental Jewelry” is about how people expressed their feelings through precious objects, what secret meanings, messages and romantic stories can be contained in jewelry creations and what the “secret language of love” is. “Dancing Jewelry” is the story of the creation of the famous Van Cleef & Arpels ballerina brooches and draws a parallel between two worlds - jewelry and ballet. “The Secret Language of Flowers” - a lecture about the symbolic meanings of flowers. All lectures are held in English with simultaneous translation into Russian in an online format - so all fans of jewelry art will be able to join the discussion from anywhere in the world.
The exhibition, film and lectures are open to everyone by registering at www.vancleefarpels.com
The exhibition is located on the 3rd floor of Petrovsky Passage (Petrovka St., 10) - we would like to remind you that at the same address on the ground floor there is a two-story Van Cleef & Arpels flagship boutique.
The exhibition opening hours are from 11:00 to 22:00. Guided tours are available on weekdays at 12:00 and 18:00, and on weekends at 12:00, 14:00, 16:00 and 18:00. You can meet the masters of Mains d'Or from October 8 to 14 from 12:00 to 16:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00.
