Customs payments

Goods transported by individuals for personal use are not subject to tax and no customs duty is charged. In this case, the cargo must comply with established standards:

• the cost is no more than 10,000 euros - if transportation is carried out by air, and no more than 1.5 euros if transportation is carried out by other modes of transport;
• weight no more than 50 kg.

If these standards are exceeded, it is necessary to prepare a customs declaration and pay the corresponding customs clearance fees. Namely 30% of the amount exceeding the standards, or 4 euros per kg in excess of the standard.

Note! If the value of precious metals exceeds $25,000, they cannot be considered personal use goods. And if their value exceeds 1,000,000 rubles, criminal liability is imposed on the declarant.

For legal entities, the import customs duty rate is 20%, not counting other mandatory payments.

Rules for export from Russia

The removal of valuables has its own peculiarities. A number of procedures are followed to be able to export metals abroad. These are:

• Expensive metals can be exported only within the quotas established by the Russian government.
• Ingots made of valuable metals sent abroad must comply with the standards established by the London Association and Russia.
• It is legally prohibited to export ore and scrap.
• Rare metals processed into jewelry are exported without restrictions on quantity. No special license is required.

• The Central Bank and foreign exchanges evaluate metal ingots. Products made from precious metals are assessed by the seller. They are provided with checks and other documents confirming the cost.
