King Solomon's ring: what is written on the ring, history and legends

The thought contained in this phrase (the inscription on Solomon’s ring) many times helped me come to my senses when emotions whispered: “Well, now you’re definitely finished,” or, on the contrary, they shouted, “Life is good! I'm on top! Now everything will be just fine!”, the phrase brought me back to reality - “Everything will pass and this too will pass”, a state of detachment from the situation appeared, the ability to think sensibly returned. I was not the only one (I’m sure of it) who breathed more smoothly from these words, perhaps this magical inscription will be useful to you too. Watch the video or read below the story of Solomon's ring...

Importance for family

This wish is questionable for newlyweds who are accustomed to expecting only happiness and new discoveries from their relationship. Indeed, it will be strange if at a wedding a newly created family is wished something in the style of King Solomon: “Everything passes, this too will pass.” Every couple hopes that their feeling and the newness of their relationship never wears off. But what a disappointment awaits spouses who have been married for two or three years - they will have to rethink all their principles and usual family foundations when something goes wrong.

Human life is a complex structure in which happiness does not depend on just one person. It depends on the environment, the other half, children, parents, on everything that surrounds it. But the personality itself can influence this environment.

The Legend of Solomon's Ring: Option Two

One day, while walking through the streets of the city, Solomon saw a rich jeweler. The king thought that there was a robber in front of him, and called a richly dressed man to his side. “I’m a jeweler,” the man replied. Then the king ordered the master to make a ring that would become historic, ordering him to make a piece of jewelry that could make the sad people happy and the happy people sad. Otherwise, the wise but cruel king promised to execute the rich man.

Difficult task! But the jeweler coped with it; according to legend, he was helped by the son of Solomon himself, Rahavam. It was he who scratched on the ring three letters of the Hebrew language - Gimel, Zayin and Yod, they were arranged in such a way that when read in a circle they meant in translation the words “everything passes, this too will pass.”

Parable

The inscription on King Solomon’s ring can be translated as follows: “Everything passes, this too will pass.”

Some ancient writings preserve the parable of King Solomon's ring. It tells the story of the ruler’s walk around the city, during which he noticed a man dressed incredibly luxuriously. He assumed that this was a robber and decided to call him over for a conversation. The man turned out to be a jeweler. He showed himself to be a very proud and confident man, calling himself the most skilled craftsman in the entire country. The king decided to moderate the ardor of the boastful jeweler a little and order a difficult piece of jewelry from him. The wise ruler came up with a cunning riddle. The ring was supposed to have such power that anyone who was sad would become cheerful, and anyone who was cheerful would become sad. Duration: three days and three nights. And if the master does not fulfill the order, he risks being left without a head. The jeweler was faced with a difficult task, but he coped with it, and the son of Solomon himself, Rechavam, helped him. The king's son engraved three Hebrew letters that sounded like "gimel, zain, yud." King Solomon, seeing the signs, understood the abbreviation as “Everything passes, this too will pass.” Sitting on the throne, he thought about the temporary nature of his reign - he felt sad from these thoughts. But in a difficult situation, the ring made him smile, because sorrows also do not last forever.

This is how Solomon’s ring appeared, copies of which are still made by jewelers all over the world. This ring should not be confused with another attribute that is associated with the great king -. This talisman, although it was also in the shape of a ring, has its own history, which is no less interesting.

The legendary ring of Solomon - does it exist?

There are other Old Testament legends in which the ring of Solomon appears.
According to legend, he allowed the Jewish king to subjugate angels, demons and the elements to his will. He was awarded this power by God himself, and the rituals developed by the king are still used by many demonologists around the world. Many of them were given in the largest grimoires, the most famous of which is the Lesser Key of Solomon. Legends about the ring say that there were four stones in this ring. One is for power over angels. The second is for commanding the elements. The third gave the ability to control demons, and the fourth - to use divine grace. It is believed that with the help of this artifact the king built the Temple of Jerusalem. And at the moment when the king turned away from God and began to glorify the pagan gods, the ring lost its power.

Since then, according to legend, the ring has rested inside Solomon’s tomb and can only return its power to those who find it. So far, this has not happened, although excavations and searches for the burial place of the most legendary of the biblical kings are still underway. Perhaps this is just a myth, but the existence of a number of biblical artifacts is not now in doubt. So, it is very likely that this ring really exists, and whoever finds it will be able to gain legendary powers for their use. Also, some myths report that the name of God, known only to Solomon, was also written on the ring.

Modern incarnation

We tried to bring our jewelry as close as possible to the original Solomon's ring. Of course, our Hebrew Solomon Ring is exquisitely designed and impeccably crafted, but it's more than just a pretty piece of jewelry. Solomon's ring with the inscription:

  • embodies the historical value of ancient civilization
  • reminds us of the daily aimless bustle
  • the inscription is as close as possible to the original

As the disk spins, the inscription turns; every day new things, new problems come to the fore. Vanity can confuse the mind, but once you detach yourself from a single letter and perceive the inscription as a whole, the intention of the unknown sages becomes clear: everything in the world is transitory and what seems very important today will fade into the shadows tomorrow.

Solomon's ring is not just a piece of jewelry with an ancient inscription on the surface of the metal, but also a powerful talisman. The history of the amulet formed the basis of many fiction and historical books; it is surrounded by a huge number of legends and myths. A similar ring can still be found today among lovers of ancient amulets and ordinary original jewelry.

King Solomon was a wise and fair ruler who was especially popular among the common people.

There are several different myths and legends known about the ring. They all boil down to the life of a Jewish king named Solomon. The main legend about Solomon's ring is associated with the vices and temptations that haunted the king. He was a wise and fair ruler, his power lasted 40 years. Over the long period of his reign, Solomon never resorted to a militant method of solving problems, and established himself as a good diplomat, which contributed to his popularity and love for him among the common people.

Despite the excellent qualities of the ruler, the king was often subjected to inexplicable outbursts of emotions - from unbridled joy to furious anger. Some sources claim that Solomon had about seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines. The temptation to relax and get carnal pleasure with one of them often did not allow the king to concentrate enough on state affairs.

In search of a solution to this problem, he turned to the court sage, who gave him a ring with the inscription “Everything will pass.” The sage advised reading this inscription during emotional outbursts and the appearance of vicious thoughts.

King Solomon and his women, artist Frans Franken the Younger.

For a long time, this method really helped Solomon. But one day, in a fit of anger, the ring infuriated him even more. He took it off with the intention of throwing it away, and then noticed another inscription on the inside. It said, “This too shall pass.” The king was reassured by these words, and from then on he never took off the talisman.

There is a theory that
Solomon's original ring remains in his tomb to this day.
