The Scandinavians believed that magical creatures lived in the buds of these flowers - elves, who came out only under the cover of darkness. In the epic of Ancient Rome there is mention of a beautiful white flower, with the help of which a monster lured a young beauty into his lair.
The Slavs believed that wreaths made from Odolen-grass were worn by the mythical inhabitants of lakes and swamps - Mavkas. The pagan goddess Kostroma is considered the first Mavka.
