What is boulder opal?
Boulder opals, mined mainly in Australia and Mexico, differ from ordinary minerals in their solidity and bright color play. They are processed without being separated from the natural “mother” substrate. The opalescence of such specimens is so magnificent and noble that they immediately stand out from other related minerals. Sometimes their shine seems incredible. That is why boulder opal (translated from English as “noble”) is one of the most expensive and rare ornamental minerals. It comes to Russia very rarely, and it is impossible to buy it due to the high price and the quick reaction of professional collectors trying to get them at any cost.
The base color of the stone can be white (or milky white) or black. Black opals are usually more expensive than others.
