Pink diamonds: a luxury only available to millionaires

Pink pearls are an extremely beautiful and sophisticated stone. For quite a long time, it was believed that jewelry with such a pearl was suitable only for mature ladies. However, today fashion and style do not dictate such restrictions: pink pearls are suitable for all representatives of the fair sex, regardless of how old they are. But there is one important nuance - the cost: pink-colored stones are valued an order of magnitude higher than pearls of the usual shades: white or milky.

Appearance

Science is not entirely sure how pink diamond is formed. One thing is clear - this is the result of exposure to extreme conditions (pressure, temperature). Also, as an option, they are considering the possibility of forming minerals of this shade when meteorites collide with the surface of the earth. Fancy colors in diamonds can be given by small impurities of manganese or ferrous compounds, but this theory is questionable in relation to diamonds.

A pink diamond ring is one of the most expensive pieces of jewelry in the world.

Such diamonds are found once every decade, and each stone is unique, unlike the other. The mineral is not always monochromatic. Some areas have a tint, others are almost colorless. But due to the refraction of light rays, the eye sees the entire mineral as pink. This color has always been considered romantic; it symbolizes purity and innocence.

Color saturation

Diamonds in red colors are extremely rare, and among them no two are identical in hue and color saturation. The most expensive diamond is considered to be a bright pink one. Excessively light and dark specimens are valued lower because they do not look as impressive.

Jewelers rate the color of a fancy stone on a 9-point scale: from pale to deep red. The most expensive in this family are red diamonds.

The highlight of the Argyle Pink Dimond Tender 2017 auction was a sparkling “baby” of 2.11 ct, faceted with a radiant. A diamond called the Argalian Eternally Shining was obtained from a 4.38 ct diamond. This is the only bright red diamond in the history of Rio Tinto weighing more than two carats.

Based on color saturation, the following varieties of dawn-hued diamond are distinguished:

  • Very Intense - very rich.
  • Intense - saturated.
  • Strong – bright.
  • Medium – moderately saturated.
  • Medium Light – medium brightness.
  • Faint – dull.

There are 20 shades of pink diamond. Primary colors:

  • Purplish Pink (PP) – purple.
  • Pink Champagne (PC) – pink champagne.
  • Brownish Pink (BR) – pink-brown.

Crystal clear natural diamonds are rare.

The cost of such rarities is expressed in millions of dollars. Usually the mineral contains impurities that give it a tint. A pink diamond, which has a violet or orange tint, is valued higher than pale variations on the pink theme with yellow and brown tints.

Color palette

The color of the mineral is not just pink, it can also have a tint. The concept of saturation is also of great importance. The most common shades are brown and yellow, they somewhat spoil the impression of the diamond, as well as orange and purple, these colors improve the appearance of the mineral. There are more than 20 shades of diamonds, which are divided into three subtypes: champagne, brown and purple.

Pure pink stones are the rarest, and therefore the most expensive.

There is a special gradation of pink tone for diamonds, which takes into account the intensity of this color.

The pink tint in this case can be:

  • weak;
  • light;
  • very light;
  • light;
  • medium-light;
  • average;
  • intense;
  • bright;
  • medium dark;
  • dark.

In addition to pink, there are also purple diamonds. They are also very rare. The largest was found in 1940 in Brazil: “Abadia do Dorado” weighed 63 carats.

Red diamonds are considered expensive.

Pink pearl jewelry

According to legend, Semiramis wore a seven-row necklace of pink pearls, and Queen Cleopatra wore a ring. Products made from pink pearls have a special charm, sophistication and elegance. It’s not for nothing that modern jewelers call such pearls “the skin of angels.” The largest pink pearl was found in the Bay of Bengal. It has a slight brown tint, and the drop size reaches 5 cm. An interesting fact is that the cost of any pearl depends on the price of pink.

The value of pink pearl jewelry is determined by the size, smoothness, and shine of the stones. Such products have no age restrictions, however, it is generally accepted that the older the woman, the larger the size of pearls should be in the jewelry: 5, 9 and 11 mm correspond to an age of less than 35 years, more than 35 and over 45 years. A small string of pearls will go well with a business suit or casual wear, and a necklace with several rows or additionally decorated with other stones will go well with an evening outfit. Pink pearls do not like clothes of the same tones or bright makeup; they themselves should be the main accent of the image.

  • Beige pearl.

Where is it mined?

Precious minerals are so expensive because they are so scarce. But stones, especially pink pearls, are even rarer. Diamonds of this color are mined in India, Brazil, and also in Australia, which is considered the birthplace of minerals of this fancy color. Australian diamonds are valued much higher than stones from Brazil and India. Another deposit of such rare gems is located in Yakutia, but it is impossible to obtain a high-quality diamond from them: when you try to cut the mineral, the color disappears.

Stones of a unique color are often mined in Australia, and they are cut mainly in Perth. The Argyll mine is famous for its pink stones. But its owner, Rio Tinto, does not always offer unique diamonds for sale. So, in 2010, he donated a rather large gem to the museum. Recently, the owner of the mine has threatened to completely stop mining fancy-colored minerals in 2022, which is why the price of previously mined diamonds is only increasing.

In general, colored diamonds account for no more than 1% of the mined stones, the rest are colorless. Of this amount, pink is up to 1%. Although red-colored stones are considered even rarer.

Over the past decade, only three pinkish gemstones weighing more than 2 carats have been found. An incredibly beautiful and very large diamond weighing more than 27 carats was found in Almazy Anabara (Yakutia). At the same time, it also turned out to be very clean, with a beautiful rich shade. Before this, the company had not found diamonds larger than 4 carats. If they decide to turn it into a diamond, it will become the most expensive gem in the history of Alrosa, of which Almazy Anabara is a subsidiary.

Why is Rose/Pink Diamond so terrible?

Hi all

It's no secret that in the latest/new seasons of Steven Universe, Pink appeared to us as some kind of monster. No one respects or loves her, not even her own son.

And for what reasons:

— She left Spinel in the kindergarten for 6000 years

- Split Pink Pearl's eye

— Started a war against Homeworld, which caused the death of many gems

— She lied to everyone that she was Rose Quartz, but even though she was Pink Diamond...? (seriously?)

Personally, I’m probably the only one who found this turn of events strange :/

And I, in my opinion, am the only one who feels sorry for Pink in the new season, because... Everyone not only stopped respecting her, but even began to hate her. Even her own son doesn't want to remember her anymore.

Now you will say...

YOUR MOTHER, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! ROSE HAS DONE SO MANY TERRIBLE THINGS AND YOU FEEL SORRY FOR HER?!

Now I will explain everything. Yes, she did terrible things, but I will explain everything

Spinel

When the film showed the story of Spinel and how Pink left her in the garden, I (instead of running to call her a monster without analyzing the situation like everyone else) was surprised... I was really confused by this scene at first, and then I I just thought that Pink, for some reason, WAS FORCED to leave her jester in the garden, because leaving Spinel there for 6000 years JUST SO, because she didn’t like her, she just couldn’t :/

She loved all living things! She fought for this living thing in the war! And here she is capable of simply throwing some gem on the planet and forgetting. Well, this is a plot hole, not some kind of reveal of Pink's dark side. Even Dalbek confirmed this in his review, for which I am very grateful to him.

Therefore, all this time I believed that we would soon be shown this important reason why she left her. Or I just thought it was a movie blooper :/

But I already have a guess:

As you can see, Spinel was a jester who was CREATED to amuse the diamonds. She never talked about any serious topics and always took them as a joke and laughed. It was impossible to understand how she really felt about what you were saying. Therefore, talking to her about the topic of “freedom” and “escaping from the Home World” was useless and even dangerous. After all, Spinel could have simply been scared/disagreed and told everything to the diamonds (even by accident), then the whole plan to save the Earth would have been ruined. But even if Spinel had gone with them to Earth, then, according to Pink, she would have died in the war, because Spinel showed NO ABILITY AT ALL to fight or take the situation seriously. Pink Diamond was afraid that the poor thing would be split in the war, so she thought that it would be better for Spinel to stand in the garden for a certain number of years until she was found, than for her to die. Naturally, Pink didn't know that her jester wouldn't be found, and that it would only break her heart later... It was Rose's mistake, but she didn't mean anything bad.

Next item: Broken Pink Pearl.

Everyone blames Pink for what she did to Pearl. As if she did it on purpose. But she REALLY didn’t want to hurt her pearl (Even Pearl herself said: “She didn’t want to hurt me. Then I just stood too close to her and...” (my translation)

HERE. She was just unlucky then. And in the episode where all this is revealed, Steven HIMSELF loses control over his emotions and also begins to scream. We won’t say that he did it on purpose and that he is such a monster, since at that moment the Pearls were standing nearby and could get hurt because of him.

Some even blame Pink for not bringing Pink Pearl with her.

Let's look at the chronology of events.

When Pink Diamond accidentally broke Pink Pearl with her scream in front of White Diamond, you already know what could have happened, because White loves everything to be perfect and does not like defects. Naturally, she immediately takes this Pearl from Pink and gives her a new one. Already our good old Pearl. New Pearl begins to serve her and after some time (not so long) Pink Diamond receives her first colony, planet Earth. Remember the episode where we are shown how Pearl and Pink are observing the colony. Then Pink Diamond on her lunar base(?) looked at the colony data, while Pearl stood nearby and was shy. Pink tried to encourage her to do something fun, but when Pearl obsequiously (as all ordinary pearls do) said: “I could imagine it. If you ask me, my diamond,” Pink felt a little sad, remembering her old Pearl, who had fun with her. Then, she and the new Pearl go to examine the colony with their own eyes, because... Pink took the form of Quartz (and no one was embarrassed that ordinary Quartz walked around with Pearl). It was THEN that Pink was able to see all the beauty of the Earth and want to protect the organic life on it. At this time, the former Pink Pearl already belonged to White Diamond and was completely under her control. It was IMPOSSIBLE to steal it and take it with you. She was just a shell, the EYES of White Diamond. So if Pearl and Pink tried to take her with them, White would severely punish them for such tricks.

Therefore, Pink Diamond should not be blamed for not taking Pearl with her.

War of the Crystal Gems

Some blame Pink Diamond for starting the war, and as a result, many gems died. But I don’t understand why she should be blamed for this. She HAD to fight for Planet Earth.

You say: “It would be better not to arrange all this! The gems wouldn't die! I would sit and perform Almaz’s duties.” But just imagine what would have happened if she hadn’t arranged it. The whole Earth would have perished long ago. Gems would still follow the cruel rule of diamonds, where they are all just servants who have no rights. There would also be no Crystal Gems or Steven. The grenade would not exist, because (even if she escaped) she would have been found and split. Well, or at least she would have been hit by the “death ray” of diamonds, and she would have turned into a monster. Pearl would never have become free. Amethyst would be oppressed for her defects. Although no, she would have remained alone in the Kindergarten forever. And Stephen would not exist at all, as well as many generations of his ancestors (on Greg’s side). Is this what you would want?

And I like that, I mean, when there used to be Rose Quartz who started a war as an ordinary soldier, that's fine. This is so heroic! She decided to save the Earth! No one said, “What a cruel Rose Quartz, instead of calmly doing the work of an ordinary soldier and not rocking the boat, calmly watching the death of the Earth, she staged a rebellion! Cracked the LIVING Pink Diamond! Your own Diamond! I collected a bunch of Crystal Gems for the sake of such losses and freedom! UGH! So many gems died then! And so many gems then turned into monsters because of the deadly ray of diamonds!”

As soon as everyone found out that Rose Quartz was actually Pink Diamond (which, by the way, on the contrary, further emphasizes her willpower, because they sacrificed such a status for the sake of the Earth), so it began!

But diamonds are to blame for this genocide. It was THEY who did not want life to exist on Earth. Because of this, they did not want any Gems to become free and live on Earth. Therefore, they continued colonization, poisoning their warriors against the Crystal Gems. And when the Crystal Gems began to win, they sent a destruction ray to the Earth to certainly destroy all the Gems who were there. It was DIAMONDS who used such weapons, not Rose Quartz, who in turn even abandoned Bismuth’s idea of splitting gems. She REFUSED to split them, which means that all defeated enemies were kept in their vault by the Crystal Gems rather than killed. It was more likely that the Crystal Gems were killed.

And in general, our history is also full of riots in which people participated for their freedom! And for some reason no one says, “These freedom fighters are so cruel, instead of sitting and humiliating themselves, they started some kind of riot in which many people died” :/

Sometimes this is simply necessary, take note.

So the conclusion is that either the creators messed up with Rosa’s actions and character, or... these were just her mistakes.

My theory is that she REALLY wanted the best for everyone, but when she was faced with such a difficult choice of how to protect an entire planet of organic life, she had to act and think quickly. Since she was then, one might say, young, she was inexperienced in her actions. And in a hurry to help everyone, to bring her plans to life, she began to make fatal, cruel mistakes... She wanted to do a lot of good in order to at least obscure her terrible mistakes, leave behind good deeds and good memories of her friends about her, and and so it was for some time, until everyone found out about her mistakes and hated her... Everyone decided to forget all the good things she had done: She gave everyone hope, healed, protected, held everyone together, helped, told everyone that they could to be whoever they want... But they decided to omit all this and remember only the bad things about her.

Pink Diamond left her political diamond life. She herself wanted to be whoever she wanted. She never wanted to look back. She lied to everyone that she was Rose Quartz, but Rose was what she wanted to be all along. She didn’t want this terrible past to happen to her at all, so she didn’t even tell her friends about it in order to properly forget everything. And when, it would seem, everything calmed down. Planet Earth was safe, and only rarely did gems/robots from Homeworld fly in, but that wasn't even a danger. And so, Rose meets Greg and falls in love. She learns that it is possible to create such a beautiful creature as a child. She decides it's time. Yes. she will disappear, but she has nothing left (as she believed) to do in this world, it’s time to leave behind a legacy. Let Stephen take care of everyone the way Rose took care of them. Or at least I tried...

And what a disappointment that now no one remembers her with a kind word or loves her. Even the Diamonds decide not to remember their child anymore and forget about him, talking only about Steven. Even Pearl, who was very faithful to Rose, stopped forgiving her, and that’s all... No one in the world needs her anymore. Even if she has already disappeared...

Eh, such a sad story.

I'm not saying the bad things she did aren't bad.

If you do not agree with what is written in my post, you can safely argue and prove your point. Even if it doesn't convince me, you still tried and I will appreciate it.

Just do it calmly, please. No shouting or insults. And try to give examples

(No, I'm not a liter teacher)

Edit:

While watching some scenes from Steven Universe, I noticed something interesting in Greg's line (episode "Steven's dream"):

“...but I told her: “The past is the past. For me, the most important thing is who you are NOW.” And who she was... this wonderful, loving being."

From this we can learn that at the time Rose and Greg were dating, she was truly a wonderful and loving being.

Perhaps this is a hint that Rose Quartz has come a long way to correction. And who she was in the end was no longer that same selfish whim. And for Greg and the others (it should be) what matters is who she became.

But it’s true, because how many times in cartoons have we been told that the past remains in the past, and the only thing that matters is who you are now (or want/aspire to be)

In any case, we must continue to watch this series to find out the fate of Pink's reputation

Quality criteria and cost

Such diamonds are sold at Sotheby's auction. The first stone immediately set a record: they paid $20 million for it. But the record did not last very long; another stone was sold at auction for $46 million.

The price of diamonds and pearls is determined taking into account the following criteria:

  1. Size and weight. Large diamonds are quite rare. Therefore, diamonds of 4-5 carats or more cost a fortune.
  2. Cleanliness, presence of inclusions. Any defects or the presence of impurities significantly reduce the cost of the gem. They can be detected with a magnifying glass, but to examine smaller defects you will need a microscope. A transparent stone is one that has no inclusions or stains, and should not have scratches or other damage.
  3. Color. Multi-colored diamonds are much rarer than colorless diamonds, which is why they are much more expensive.
  4. Hue, color saturation. This parameter is more difficult. If a diamond has a yellowish or brown tint, it will cost less than a mineral with a pink or purple tint. The brighter and more saturated the color, the more expensive the stone can be sold.

Not all diamonds have color due to their natural characteristics. Often this is the result of human efforts: special processing, for example, heating. The cost of 1 carat of a pink diamond starts from 100 thousand dollars, but if it is large, the price will be even higher. Thus, one bright mineral was sold for $28.5 million, weighing 16 carats. At another auction, the cost of the Pink Star stone, weighing almost 60 carats, exceeded $70 million.

The famous stone is considered to be the “Pink Graff”, weighing almost 24 carats. The mineral of a surprisingly delicate shade was sold for more than $46 million. “Martian Pink” got its name thanks to the expedition that set out to study this planet. They sold the gem in China (this country buys fancy-colored diamonds more often than others). The round diamond weighs 12 carats and was purchased for $17.5 million. Also in China, a 14-carat stone in the shape of a rectangle was sold, it was called “Perfect Pink”.

Properties

Many thousands of years ago, pink pearls were credited with amazing magical and healing properties. Products with such a stone were considered a powerful energy amulet that protected and supported its owner. The pink pearl, like a magnet, attracts prosperity, luck, happiness, love and protects from negative manifestations from the outside. It is believed that pink mother of pearl provides its owner with eternal youth and ageless beauty. An example of this is Cleopatra, who not only loved to wear items made of pink beads, but also drank water in which amazing stones were infused.

Modern lithotherapy is also confident that organic formation is endowed with healing properties that help a person get rid of ailments and health problems:

  • normalizes heart function;
  • has a positive effect on the stomach and kidneys;
  • stabilizes blood pressure;
  • cleanses the blood and improves its quality;
  • restores the functioning of the nervous system, helps eliminate stress and depression.

As for magical manifestations, pink pearls are often used in talismans, which help to find love or maintain family happiness. In addition, it helps to make the right decision, control attacks of aggression and anger, develops memory, gives inspiration and reveals talents.

Processing methods

To turn a mineral into a diamond, a special cut is required. In this case, too much waste should not be generated, otherwise the stone will lose a lot of weight. Therefore, pink diamonds are not given fancy, complex cuts. More often they are oval, round or cabochon-shaped.

For colorless stones, such processing is important, which allows you to show the play of light, brilliance, radiance. In this case, the stone should be symmetrical at the output. For colored minerals, the approach is different: when cutting, the color of the mineral should not “go away”; on the contrary, its intensity should increase.

In addition, you can use pressure and high temperature to turn a colorless gemstone into a pinkish one. Outwardly, it is no different from a completely natural gem. Another option is to grow colored gems. But artificial diamonds are always much lower in price.

Natural pink diamonds are set only in expensive metals - gold alloyed with platinum, or pure platinum. These metals highlight the color favorably.

Pink diamonds are rare, unique, beautiful. This is a great investment because their price will never go down. Those who can afford to purchase such a mineral should take care to obtain accompanying documents confirming the authenticity of the stone.
