Andesite is a common high-strength rock: characteristics and applications

Common andesite

Andesite blocks in Minecraft are generated naturally. Just like granite, it can appear in areas where there is a large accumulation of gravel, earth or stone. Sometimes andesite is found among accumulations of diorite and granite.

Andesite is not affected by gravity, so it will not fall on the player's head;

30% resistance to dynamite;

You can get it with a wooden pickaxe (at least).

If you don’t have enough time to find andesite, but have a decent supply of diorite and cobblestones, then you can craft it in a workbench.

History and origin of the stone

The rock was described in 1836 by geologist Christian Buch. It was discovered in the Andean mountains. The mineral is formed as a result of the solidification of lava flows. It belongs to effusive rocks, that is, lying close to the surface of the earth.

In 1961, archaeological excavations were carried out on the Ika River. Black andesite stones were discovered depicting scenes from the life of the ancient Incas. Some of them were given to scientists, some were sold to private collections.

Polished andesite

To polish andesite, it doesn’t take much time; just open the workbench or inventory, place four andesite stones next to each other - and the result will be one polished andesite. In order to get one stack of polished andesite, we need 4 stacks of regular andesite.

Ingredients

Crafting recipe

Like polished granite, andesite after polishing is used as decoration; very rarely it is used as the main material in construction. In terms of its properties, polished andesite is completely identical to ordinary andesite.

The main decor where polished andesite is used:

Bridges, columns and arches;

Steps that lead to buildings;

Frames around entrance doors and windows, plinths, etc.

What is

Andesite is a rock of volcanic origin, fossilized magma. It lies shallow and is therefore classified as effusive.

The breed looks ascetic:

  • These are frozen granular or other forms: domes, streams, vertical columns.
  • The stone is opaque, dense, and can be easily distinguished by its roughness or “pumice” texture.
  • The color is dark gray with small black spots. Sometimes a greenish tint is visible.

The main components are pyroxenes, hornblende, spar, and dark mica. They are supplemented in the composition of andesite by oxides of aluminum, iron, calcium, and silicon.

Smooth andesite

In the inventory of the Minecraft game itself, this block is called “smooth andesite,” but still the English name “Polished Andesite” can most accurately reflect at least its appearance and partial properties. After all, the word polished can be translated as shiny, smooth, finished, refined, polished, polished, polished, polished, elegant.

It is very simple to make smooth andesite - at least take other smooth blocks as a sample: granite and diorite. And in this case we will need four pieces of ordinary andesite.

Polished andesite is a block in the Minecraft game, added in the official version 1.8.

Varieties

Andesites are diverse, so they are ordered into groups.

Varieties based on the predominant component of the composition:

  1. Biotite.
  2. Plagioclase.
  3. Pyroxene.
  4. Hornblende.

The second basis of division is based on the description of the structure. Dense mandelsteins, glassy obsidians and spongy-vesicular pumice are distinguished here.

Same texture? [Edit]

Polished Andesite appears to have the same textures as the previously unavailable "Double Half Slabs" (without using commands). 1.123.36.238 05:30, January 10, 2014 (UTC)

The double slab is much lighter; Compare File: Smooth stone slab.png and File: Polished Andesite.png. — Orthotope talk 06:14, January 10, 2014 (UTC)

Update history [edit]

Andesite is in the current version of Minecraft PE. Perhaps someone less new than me can update this.

I propose to separate the andesite from the polished andesite. (Okay, how do I schedule who agrees and who disagrees, this is my first time making a proposal) Boorider7 (talk) 20:10, September 13, 2015 (UTC)

Schedule? Where did you see the graph? Just start a thread suggesting it as you do, but with a reason why they should be separated. Regarding my answer: .

Price

You can find many decorative elements and building materials on sale. We present the average cost in table form.

product namePrice in rubles
Facing tiles (m2)1700-1900
Paving stones (m2)1600-2300
Crushed stone (ton)850-950
Ball (5.8 cm)3500
Lump (fraction size 40-150 cm) per kg7,5

The cost is influenced by decorativeness, level of processing and mineral deposit.

Medicinal properties

Proponents of traditional medicine consider andesite to be a powerful medicine. Regular contact with the stone strengthens the immune system and brings peace of mind. A person gets rid of a bad mood, negative thoughts and is able to make thoughtful decisions, not based on emotions.

The healing properties of andesite are widely used by supporters of alternative medicine. Andesite has gained recognition in the occult. The mineral was found in the Andes, where the ancient Incas lived. Esotericists believe that it gives the owner self-confidence and stimulates the development of intuition. It is recommended to carry andesite keychains or rosaries with you and meditate periodically.

Lithotherapists claim that andesite is universal, as it heals the soul and body. Wear it regularly to keep you happy and healthy.

Where is it used?

The main scope of application of the breed is in industrial sectors:

  • Sidewalks, highways, and other public spaces are paved with andesite.
  • This is a material for foundations, cladding walls of swimming pools and buildings.
  • Andesite is suitable for decorating fireplaces, stairs, and interiors in general.
  • Stoves and chimneys are laid with stone blocks.
  • The raw materials are used in the manufacture of armored and fire-resistant glass, crushed stone, concrete, and porcelain.

The main consumer of andesite raw materials is the construction complex.

All types of stone are in demand, they are processed rationally: stone “fine” is crushed into powder and becomes a component of concrete, larger fragments become crushed stone. Massive blocks or slabs are polished. They decorate the interior and exterior.

The breed is environmentally friendly and well processed. These properties of andesite are used by stone cutters when turning large plastic pieces and vases. As well as esoteric products: pyramids, balls, amulets, talismans.

You can take minimal care, except maybe take care of the polish.

Jewelers are not interested in stone, so the problem of how to distinguish the original from the imitation is irrelevant for andesite.
